I’m so late with this post this week but real life has claimed my time not giving me any time to write this post until today. We start out with a really good discovery from week 50…
NahemaH!
NahemaH from Spain plays a mix of melodic death metal, progressive rock/metal, ambience and blends in a touch of standard rock melodies. This is a strange combination and the strong prog passages should have put me off, but it didn’t and if not that, the use of saxophone in some of their songs should have made me really turn it off. But it didn’t, which only can be a good thing!
I guess the mix of genres are that well blended and balanced that it only makes me curious!
They offers typical death metal rough growls and screams and proggish clean singing, and the clean singing it good too.
If you like music that demands a little more from the listener this is it!
Sadly NahemaH split earlier this year.
Nonsun
Sometimes, but very seldom I see a recommendation on facebook, that gets me so curious that I actually click the link and go listen. Not that the recommendations that are posted there by friends, acquaintances, magazines, record labels etc. that I have liked on facebook, are bad or anything, but that is just the way it is… 🙂
But I’m really glad that I actually did this time as I found this little gem: Nonsun!
Well Nonsun from Ukraine was formed in 2011 and the two band members have created a really interesting 4-track demo-EP ’Good Old Evil’, which you can download for free from their BandCamp page. If you are into drone, doom, sludge, post-metal, spacey weirdness, then you will love this! Their sound is down-tuned, distorted, dirty and rough. It’s slow, it’s dreamy, it’s dark and it’s good!
I did have a small question mark on the vocal in the beginning, but it works with the overall feeling and it grown on you, so nothing to really complain about. Did I say you can download it for free? I guess I did, so what are you waiting for? Go get it!
